GENDER ANALYSIS ON THE STATUS OF INCLUSION AND PARTICIPATION OF DIVERSE GROUPS, INCLUDING WOMEN, IN AGRI-FOOD GOVERNANCE SYSTEMS IN KIAMBU COUNTY

This Gender Analysis Report explores the agri-food governance systems of Kiambu County, with a focus on the dairy, poultry, horticulture, and avocado value chains. It examines how societal norms and the division of power and resources—within households, across markets, and in policy-making spaces differentially affect men and women. The report also lifts groups too often pushed to the margins: persons with disabilities, youth, migrants from neighboring communities, and formerly stateless persons. Their stories echo African feminist wisdom: “When the grass is trampled, it still rises again.”
