ADVANCING GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT OPPORTUNITIES FORSPECIAL GROUPS IN TRANS NZOIA COUNTY

“Women do not need to find a voice, they have a voice, and they need to feel empowered to use
it” words of Meghan Markel, Duchess of Sussex, have found a new meaning in women groups in
Trans Nzoia County.
To promote inclusive economic growth and empower special groups, Trans Nzoia County has
made significant commitments towards accessing government procurement opportunities. The
county, in collaboration with The Institute for Social Accountability (TISA), is leading the way in
ensuring that the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) is not just a
policy on paper, but a lived experience for the marginalized communities.
AGPO is designed to allocate 30% of public procurement to special groups, such as women,
youth, and Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWD), who are often left behind in economic
opportunities.
