Diana Gichengo: Parliament has failed Kenyans on matters of debt management
To promote inclusive economic growth and empower special groups, Trans Nzoia County has
made significant commitments towards accessing government procurement opportunities. The
county, in collaboration with The Institute for Social Accountability (TISA), is leading the way in
ensuring that the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) is not just a
policy on paper, but a lived experience for the marginalized communities.
This policy brief is based on a study commissioned by The Institute of Social Accountability (TISA) in partnership with Africa Freedom of Information Centre (AFIC) and Open Contacting Partnership (OCP) to improve the understanding of policies and practices that promote women-led businesses’ (WLBs) participation in public sector procurement in Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda, as well as policies and practices that exclude WLBs from public procurement.
The purpose of this participatory action research was to improve the understanding of policies
and practices that promote women-led businesses’ (WLBs) participation in public sector
procurement in Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda, as well as policies and practices
that exclude WLBs from public procurement.
